Hi,

I'm new to the VTX world, so excuse me if it's a dumb question. I bought these bags for my '04 VTX1800N from a guy who said they came off his vtx, in fact he had pictures of them on the bike. However, the bags and mounting hardware don't look like they're going to fit on my bike. Is there a new mounting bracket I can get for this or should I just look for new bags?

Make your own mount... look at how they go on, and create your own way to mount them.

Those bags look the same as mine. Saddleman is what I have. My brackets are different though. I would bend them to make them fit since you already have them. I'm gonna eventually (maybe) get hard cases, but what I have now came with the bike so they haven't cost anything so far.

Those style brackets are for a over the fender style saddle bag. Those don't look like the VTX brackets, VTx brackets are straight at both bolt points. Cobra or MC Enterprises makes them. If you get new brackets look for edge brackets the saddlebags bolt to these. Here is what a VTX bracket should look like.. I have a set in my Parts box in my garage..

Thanks for the image. Since my bags match up to the brackets, I'm guessing I need to get new bags too. Any chance you're interested in selling your spare brackets? If not, no big deal, the brackets on amazon are pretty cheap.

I appreciate the offer, but these saddlemen bags aren't the throwever type, they line up with the narrow brackets I have, so they won't fit the bike. I ended up picking up a set of HD hard patrol bags last night. They've been modded with mounting hardware for a metric cruiser, but don't line up quite right with the VTX either. Got them for $150 and they're pretty clean, so I figure I'll take my time with fabricating a better bracket and chaning up my rear turn signals.
