I got a new job on Monday ...

I know how many of you feel about dealers, but I have taken a sales job working in the Rick Case Honda motorcycle store in Davie Florida.

Those of you that know me, know I left my last job because of ethics, which is part of the reason I am "declaring an interest" to the Cafe. I know there are strong feelings about dealers on here, and if Ray or the Mods see a conflict I will understand.

Hopefully there won't be an issue, but I want to be above board.
Thanks!

GO AWAY!!!!! Hah :) Just kidding man, that's awesome!!!

I'd love to work for a dealer, just being around all those bikes would rock... just because some have bad ethics, there are plenty that really mean well and try their best. You get to be one of those, give us the inside scoop, and maybe even help some of us get a deal if we need a new ride!!

I'm excited for ya! I expect pictures of the show floor though ;)

:nono: Silly wabbit! Quits are for kids! :bleh:

Seriously though, the second biggest problem with bike sales people is they (and many dealer mechanics) don't have the faintest freaking idea as to what folks want from their bikes, on their bikes, for their bikes and what they'd like changed about their bikes.

You stay here (and other model related forums) and PARITCIPATE and you'll become a Master liar...err...sales individual. :icon_susp

I am neither Ray nor a moderator....but as a member who is in somewhat goodstanding, I would welcome someone here who worked in any capacity involving a dealership....(I think there might be a few already)....

My question would be does your new employer have a problem with you being on a bike forum?.....Hopefully, they do not....:nope:

I don't see a problem at all. I agree, at least you will have the background to know what the hell you're talking about, and looking at it from the other side of the coin. I assume it is a sales position? If so, then you will know how to treat someone with respect and not just see a dollar sign walking in the door. I think part of the problem with some sales people is they aren't always into bikes, but in the other equipment they sell, like boats, water craft and the like. Good luck in the new venture.

No problem here. Like everything, there are good dealers and bad dealers.

My biggest problem with dealers is they have no clue about the product they sell...You'll be one of those few that DO actually know something about motorcycles....

Congrats on the new job man!!!....

I don't know why dealer would get such a bad rap. Some do have knowledgable staff that are a fountain of information for people not 100% up with todays technology. No I don't work at a dealer, but do take my bike there regulary for serious checkups. I do lots of work myself as I've really modified my VTX 1800C from boring stock to serious head turner. Just joined and really enjoying everyone point of view. Cheers from Australia.

Congrats on the job, as for leaving here, if you still have an X you still have a place here.

Maybe you can score a 25% discount for Cafe members....just saying...
