I was in D.C. all week and it was killing me to wait to install the new shield.

We ordered from ChromeWorld and it arrived in 3 days. Easy ordering and good customer service. Thanks for that... :mosh:

I decided to do a pictorial from un-boxing to riding again. Hope you like...

Slipstreamer SS-32-20" for 03' 1800C (you have to get the oversized fork kit) It arrived undamaged in a box marked "Fragile"

I un-boxed and inventoried everything...

Inspected the shield for scratches & damage then checked the chrome for defects and unpacked all the hardware...

I found two grommets had not been fully installed, so I finished pushing them all the way through...

Next, you install the chrome straps on the acrylic shield at this point...

and finally, assembled & ready for install...

Now it's time to install the clamps on the forks. I realized very quickly that these are STRONG mounts.

The mounts completely wrap around the fork and use a rubber sheet intended as a spacer. (Slipstreamer provided several sheets of different thicknesses so you can customize the exact fit to your forks) Mine needed the medium size...

The clamps were VERY tight with the medium spacer, but loose with the thin one, so I decided to leverage them closed...

and install the hardware...

Things went great for all six mounting bolts and then I realized it...

I forgot to attach the tilt (mounting) brackets... FAIL!

Redid the mounts CORRECTLY this time... :spank:

Now you simply place the shield on the tilt brackets and align the mounting bolts to the holes. Thread on all four acorn nuts and get everything lined up just right...

don't forget the tilt adjustment...

Finally, tighten all the hardware as tight as you deem appropriate for the application (you DO NOT want to over-tighten the hardware that penetrates any of the acrylic... IT WILL CRACK!)

I took Scarlet for a hotlap to test the install and my first impression is that this shield is PERFECTLY sized to create a pocket behind it. I detected zero buffeting all the way up to 80mph. I did not and will not take it any faster than that, so no use trying. There is a pretty big (3 1/2 inch) opening around the headlight, so next project will be doing a riser mount for the headlight because the shield is EXACTLY the height I need it to protect my paws and head; the real reason I bought this thing... :D

I really debated for a long time... Hope this helps someone else, 'cause I know this is what I was kind of looking for... I sure wish I knew how to clear out the picture space so I could do another. I also relocated my headlight and that would be a great photo op too. :hmm2:

I have had it on the highway for over 100 miles and the hardware verification (per the instructions) is done. Nothing loose or moved.

The wind protection is good and the height is perfect for me; but at 5'8" I am a short rider. Wife reports decent envelope between the shield and me she is comfy and no buffeting.

Rode in rain day before yesterday and it is a completely different experience. No drenching spray, no stinging impacts on the exposed neck areas, but it does slightly change your visibility, but not unlike a car, so its good. :drunk:
