Hello friends,

Here my newest modification, which I thought was going to be purely cosmetic in nature, So Wrong!

The air cleaner comes in chrome or black, and the spike is available in a couple of designs, I went with chrome and spiraled vent openings.

It’s a bonus that you can clean and reuse the filter element on the spike air cleaner; I’d say I think it flows better than the stock paper air filter to boot.

Yes I have added a spike air cleaner to my 2006 VTX 1800S, I read several other posts on installing a spike air cleaner.

I like the others really like the look it adds to the bike, but after installing and taking it out for a test ride found something more.

First off others had posted about issues with leg clearance, I say bull!

Yes, the air intake elbow sticks out a bit further than the stock air cleaner, but it’s in front of your leg and is not an issue (unless you’re got legs like a grasshopper).

Ok, enough suspense,

On the test ride I found that the rush of air into the spike air cleaner, when under open throttle would give the bike a power surge that I could both feel on the bike as well as hear from the spike air cleaner.

So I have no spec. numbers or time sheets to prove this power boost to you all, but from the seat of my pants to the new roar of my motor, I telling you it’s there.

So, if you have been thinking about maybe getting one of these to replace your stock air box, I say, go for it, it’s not just for looks!

Hi, the first photo shows the spacing, I hopped on the Trike in shorts and socks for this one.

Is there a worry about riding in the rain with a spike air filter like that?

That looks a bit more closed up than the ones that usually are on eBay. Probably won't have as many issues with crosswinds leaning out.
If you like it and bike running good it doesn't matter what everyone else thinks. :)

So far I haven't road it in the rain, but when I was researching spike air cleaners on others posts they said it performed good in even heavy rain.

Speaking of the spike air cleaner, a friend of mine gave me one, but it is missing the plate to adapting it to my bike (2006 VTX 1300c)

Does anyone know where I can by the adapter plate?

Thank you in advance

Hey SubDude looks great, I been wanting to get one but was put off by the clearance, do you have to upgrade the jets or do any other mods before you can put one.
