By listing a fact from your childhood that kids these days wouldn't comprehend.

Such as: The phone in my parents house was a party line. Anyone else remember those?

Just last night I was telling my youngest that we kids all used to run outside when we heard a car coming in our street, and my uncle HAD A CAR, it would be the only car parked in the street when he came to visit.

Playing in the street without worrying about being run over.

Phone? We had to go to the grocer next door, he would call the farmer who lived 100 yards from grandpa and who would then send one of his kids to go get grandpa so that he could come to the phone. So yeah, it could take a while.

TV? One channel, from 7 to 10, content government controlled (Netherlands), but twice a week from 5 to 6pm there would be a children's program and the only neighbors that had a TV had 20+ kids all watching AND BEHAVING. Black and white of course.

I worked at Montgomery Ward when I was in High School busting tires in the Auto Department, back then everything was bias ply tires and the hot thing was Red Line Wide Ovals and the big cars like Caddys and Lincolns had fender skirts (what a pain in the A$$ that was)!!!!! I remember $0.25 a gallon gas and 10 cent packs of cigarettes from the vending machine at the gas station and they didn't care who bought them. I lived up in the foot hills (Columbia CA and surrounding area) and my buddies and I would go out exploring amid the rattlesnakes and mine shafts of the old abandoned gold mines and our parents had no idea where we would go and this was when I was 7 to 9 years old. Man back in the day we had a childhood, most of today's children are not even allowed to play in their fenced back yards without adult supervision!!!!!
