I have a new job and will have to drive at night at lot more. I would really like more light. I'd like to know what you guys have, how hard it was to install etc.. I have an 1800T but my windshield isnt stock. I have a Memphis shade. Let me know what you guys think. Thanks

I love the look of my Show Chrome light bar!

Here is an example picture:

If you get this, you'll need an adapter for the turn signals if you want the same setup.

Here is a link to manufacture:

However, I would search internet for cheaper price if you decide you like these.

Here is a picture of them on my Neo:

I do have Memphis Fats but not in this picture. Good luck on your choices.

Light Bar

Be sure that whichever bar you choose has the electrical stuff to avoid burning out the starter switch. I had a National Cycle light bar on my 1300 that I wired directly into the headlight can. Their instructions made it sound as though the included relay was optional, but failure to install it resulted in being stranded one day. One other little thing. It may be just a quirk of my bike, but I actually see better at full dark on low beam. Enjoy. PastorGene

Not a quirk.. I feel the same way.. IMO my high beams are great for seeing long distances but I feel I can see the road in front of my better with low beams. I plan on trying a light bar in the near future to see if I can get the best of both worlds so to speak.. I rotate between day shift and night shift every two weeks and am usually driving in the dark either going in to work or coming home.

I went with the Hondaline as well, have a memphis shades windshield. I didn't install it though, wiring is not my thing. I hade Bassdude wire it, he's good at that stuff!!! It made a HUGE difference in my ability to see/ride at night!

I have a Hondaline. There is a harness for it in the headlight already. Super easy to install.

I put motolights caliper mount lights on mine. They are down nice and low and are 55W each. I will try and get some pics tonight.

New member here, and I have not started the mods list yet, but more light out front is going to have to be on the list. Is there any thing that can be done in the existing light housing, like a higher wattage? Can the wiring handle additional loading in the existing housing.

Looks like the light bars add quite a bit of wattage over stock and is this the only way to get more light in front.

Thanks :)

hondaline 1800

I put a hondaline bar for the 1800 on my 08 VTX1300C. I had to buy directionals for an 08 1300R to fit the bar. Then, since the directionals are mounted below the lights, they hit the front fork when I hit a bump. So, I bought Glen's 4" extension. I had to raise the MS windshield mount about an inch (good thing), and mount the light bar under the extension. Looks and works great. Glen's extension is a real improvement. The whole light is exposed and much more chrome is visable.

The bar would have been an easier fit on an R model. It is a real improvement for safety and appearance.

I put this mod off until I had the bike running good. Glen's A/F permanent adjustment tool and clutch relief were first. Then turn signal led indicators on the windshield followed by Roadhouse slip on pipes and then the Scar mod. Oh ya, I put a tack on to see when I was in 5th gear. I was feeling pretty good about everything so I did a pair valve removal and adjusted the valves. These are things I never would have tried without this forum. There are some great guys here and good instructional threads. The last thing for this year is going to be progressive springs.

Have fun.

the electrical system for the 1800 is 33amps @ 12.5v total charging capacity - 400W @ 5k

According to the installation guide for the Honda highway lights
"Halogen fog light : H3 Bulb 12v-25W Mini fuse: 7.5 amps"
25w
---- = 2.08amps (4.16amps total)
12v

You should be fine if that is the only elecrical addition.

I mounted mine myself. A little bit of a pain getting my hands/wrench into a few tight places. But not too bad.

I replaced the 25w bulbs with 35w. nice ... only thing I dont like is that I cant bring them down out of the trees. Not much adjusting available.
