Im moving from NE Arkansas to Tucson, Im leaving here the Sunday following Thanksgiving. Since Im shopping for a bike, I figured that I would look around between here and there for the best deal. I have enough room to take a bike with me.

I stopped by the local dealer to look thier selection over. They have a 06 1300C for $10,750 out the door, and a 06 1800 for $13,500 out the door.

I told the salesman that seemed a little high because a dealership in Little Rock had a 06 1300C for $7500, and a 05 1800 for $9999 out the door.

He just looked at me and said, "Go buy the damn bike from them" and stomped off.

I hate shopping for anything because if you dont let them take you to the cleaners, you get treated like dirt.

So whats the better deal 06 1300C for $7500, or 05 1800R for $9999?

BTW: The dealership owners wife got busted for shoplifting at Sears last week, maybe thats why thier prices are so high,

I think you gotta decide what you like better. $2,500 will get you a lot of nice accessories on the 1300C, but you are talking about two totally different animals between a 1300C and a 1800R. I think the sting of living with something you don't really want will burn you a lot longer than the sting of spending the extra $2,500 up front. When you dream, which bike do you see yourself on?

Im trying to learn from my past mistakes. Im sure the 1300 is enough, A year or so down the road will I wish I had more power?

I have a nice 05 Mustang, its fast enough, but Im thinking about going FI on it.

I dont know, thats why Im asking.

Does the typical 1300 owner here, wish they had the 1800?

Do a test ride and choose which one you want. I have not ridden in over 10 years but I wanted something more like a 1300C then the 1300S I ended up with. I really liked the 1300C but for the price I got the "S" model for, $6000, I just couldn't pass on it. If the deal had been a 1800 then I would have a 1800 sitting here. Best thing I can say is TEST RIDE. Actually, I like the 1100 Sabre too.

I agree with the test ride suggestion. :choppersm

I haven't had my 1300S long enough to know what I will want in 2 years, but I do know that I am very happy with the 1300, and it has enough power to go uphill without a worry with 2 riders (400+ pounds) on it. Personally, I like adding the accessories for the extra $$$.

When I first joined this site, Mudwomper told me to "Open the wallet" because there is never an end to the accessories. Look at all these threads if you don't believe that. The lower price just leaves you more room to open. I doubt a 1300 will let you down unless you already have a bigger bike. That was clearly not my case.

Good luck with your decision. Enjoy the test ride :) .

I dont generally consider the 1300 and the 1800 to be the same class of bikes, or anything close. When I was looking, I didnt even consider the 1800 because, frankly, i didnt want a power cruiser. I cant imagine that anyone shopping for a bike would think of both of them. They're completely different animals. I think if i had been looking at an 1800, id have also looked at a v-rod, an M109R, and a Warrior.

Sun - Depart for Tucson in my F150 pulling the trailer
Mon - Arr Tucson
Tue - Fly to Arkansas
Wed: - Depart for Tucson in my Mustang

Im not doing any extra flying or driving. If I can score along the way, then great, otherwise I will just have to wait. Sunrise Honda in Little Rock has some nice deals, I may buy there as I pass through.

Personally there are some GREAT deals on used VTX's right now, many great deals. If I was buying right now I would buy one of the used bikes. Here is what I would buy right now if I needed a bike:

And for that dealer I think I would called the manager and let them know what happened.

I test drove the 1800C and it was just a bit too big for me. I'm 5'9" and 170 lbs and the 1300R was the perfect fit.

I just bought my 06 1300R from Western Honda in Scottsdale AZ for $7350 + fee's....about $8300 OTD. That is a 2 hour nice ride from Tucson. That was a no haggle price. Just walked in and told them that's what I was going to pay. See Brian or Theo. They'll treat ya right.

You're looking at a C and an R...pegs vs. floor boards..."drag " seating vs. "straight up" cruiser. Not only is 1300 and 1800 night and day...so is the C and the R.

I knew I wanted the 1800 when I was buying. I test rode both and didn't care for the C at all and really liked the ride of the R. You have to take a test ride or you will always have 2nd thoughts and ask yourself...."what if".

And...it's not that you hate people...you hate SALESPEOPLE...but then again...who doesn't.

There are 3 things I hate doing in life...buying a house...buying a car/bike...updating my will.

Go see Tina at Sunrise in Searcy, Arkansas. I bought my 05 1300R from Her and their whole staff treats you like family. They have some great prices on previous year (never titled) bikes. I bought the 05 in 06. Tell her Jimmy Alvey sent you.:choppersm

I have a 06 1300R and I love it. Immediately put $1000. in accessories on it and than straight to the custom paint shop for another $800. One thing I will warn you about with the 1300R is immediately plan on either getting the seat Mod or replaced by a Mustang or Ultimate. Far as Power and Size... it has plenty for me, even with the wife. I agree with the others. Test drive them both and see "which one you can handle safely" sometimes its not all about the power, reaction and handling will save you more than power will. Hope this helps.
