Okay, I was cleaning up my bike today and noticed that theres a small hole on the throttle assembly (the part that the switch housing is on, not the grip itself). I checked around and it doesn't appear to serve any purpose, but i DO notice that if I slide something in there, I can hold the throttle in place. Would it be possible to tap that for a threaded thumb screw and use it like a cruise control? I know my buddy's V-Rod has a setup EXACTLY like this, and you can tighten the screw so that the throttle stays in place if you let go of it, but you can still turn it back easily.

Anyone noticed this, or know what it's there for? Seems to me like it would be an easy modification to add cruise control.

I personally think if you were to plug that hole with something to hold the throttle in place would be a big mistake.

I looked at mine and it is in line with the cable hence I think it is to allow all moisture to run out and not down the cable housing

I agree with Charlie D; I wouldn't put anything in that hole on the bars to lock the throttle in place that wasn't designed to be there. Actually the "throttle boss" you note in your header is a paddle that goes on the end of Kury's ISO grips, allows you to hold the throttle position with just the heel/palm of your hand and open/relax your fingers/"grip." I installed one on mine a few months ago and like it. I myself have never been a big fan of throttle locks/cruise control set-ups on bikes.

If you're wanting to do cruise control, you're really better off using something like a Vista universal cruise control set-up or one of the other aftermarket set-ups for metrics.
