Loaded up a "hope the hell I don't need it" tool kit last night, and put it in a shaving kit travel bag that I have..But it felt kinda heavy, and would be taking up saddlebag space that I really want for other stuff...So the gears in my head started turning, and I remembered a bag that Gonzo1970 had left here from the first tech session in May 2010 when he installed his fairing...He had cut the back out and put some steel mesh over the opening, then installed a pair of speakers inside it...So I used some Gorilla glue to glue a piece of vinyl from an old purse Jenny had discarded over the steel mesh, then used some spray adhesive to glue a piece of felt over that...

Let it all sit overnight, and then cut some slots in the backside, and ran a pair of hose clamps through it and attached it to the driveshaft...

No extra weight in the saddlebags, and I've got some emergency tools "just in case"...And when we get back home, I can easily remove it and put it back on the bench....

LMAO!!..Wasn't me!!...I searched "tool bag" last night, and came across more threads than I cared to dig through....So just made it up as I went along and came up with what I have...Hoping it holds, or I'm gonna lose a good amount of tools on the highway...

Bass.

great idea why buy something pretty to cover the driveshaft when you have that and its functional to boot. I bought a tool pouch to fit behind the windshield but it wouldn't fit, mocked it to the drive shaft and it fits perfectly - awesome idea

Ummm... I got to thinking... :hmm2:

This LOOKS like a great idea, but what about rain, mud, spash etc and the tools inside? Just wondering...

Well I gotta re-think this deal...Didn't even get to the Indiana toll road and it had rotated thew chrome driveshaft cover and was in danger of losing stuff out of it...So I pulled it and put it in the saddlebag...I'll work on it better when we get back from vacation...
