The seats are usually separate from the tour box/backrest/arm rests. There are many aftermarket seats but the most commonly seen here on the Cafe are the Mustang and the Ultimate brands. Everyone's butt is different so the only way to tell which will work best for your situation is to test sit on them.

I have the Mustang seat with rider backrest, and a Cobra sissybar for my passenger. It is certainly a big step up from the stock seat, but what I would really like is something similar what we see on street/Ultraglides and GoldWings.

I have a Mustang seat on mine with a backrest. Glad it was already on when I bought the bike. Never had a passenger on it, but just in case you may be looking for an upgrade for your seat, I would highly recommend it. Backrest is awesome, especially for some of the longer rides I have gone for in since I acquired it. Comfortable to sit in as well. But I think regardless the type of seat after a couple hundred miles, it's time to get off and stretch it out a bit too. The passenger seat is part of the Mustang setup I have. It looks soft, but I can't imagine it would still be comfortable to get back on to after a couple hundred miles too. Just seems a bit narrow.

I once looked for a trunk with backrest type setup. They are out there, as previously mentioned. I think they have some with arm rests and a nice back pad that I saw. Hope you can find something good!

One of the best passenger seats is the Russell Day Long. Most of the production seats offer good driver seats but the passenger is an afterthought. It is obvious the driver and passenger seats are very different. With the Russell the passenger seat is given the same level of refinement as the driver. For both riders you send in your height, weight, waist, inseam, and a couple pics in a typical riding position and feet down at a stop, along with any special requests. They build the seats from the stock pans to match you AND your passenger's dimensions. You choose the seat material(s), color, stitch pattern, backrest, heat... Both seats have a steel suspension system under the wings to match your weight. Cost is quite comparable to an Ultimate setup. I had an Ultimate on the X, great for me, barely acceptable for the passenger on anything other than day rides. Both the front and rear Russell on my GS is very comfortable for any distance.

My 650GS Russell seat, dual setup, light gray vinyl, half moon stitch pattern, no backrests, no heat. Passenger seat is slightly smaller than driver because it is a 135lb seat vs 190lb driver. Also had them move me closer to the bars and a little higher to relieve the knees a little.
