I have not found a Honda speedo in a car or bike to correct yet. My X is about 10% off. At 80 mph indicated my actual speed is 72.25. I have done a check with both radar and GPS. What you need to do is have your speedo checked. When I buy a new car I take it to a speedo shop so i can have the speedo checked and to date I have not had any Honda spedo even close to actual speed. Right now I have 4 Hondas, 3 cars and one bike. Just so you know Honda is not alone, my '97 Ford F150 is about 3 mph off and I had it corrected a bit with a different tire size.

it happens, especially on motorcycles. The VTX speedo (and henceforth the odometer) is off quite a bit, i dont remember exactly how much. If you want to figure out exactly how much you are off, you need to test it with a GPS.

That’s what I expected. I've looked down and have seen a 90mph reading on the interstate & thought to myself “no way.” So I’ve been thinking from the beginning that it's been overly optimistic.
Bright side… MPG should be looking pretty good. (Ignorance is bliss)

I have read somewhere that you can install a speedo healer to correct the variance.

I have a speedo healer from my Blackbird, I will have to see how to install it.

One guy I ride with has a BMW. I checked once after a fill-up and reset. Mine had 100 miles, his had 97. Go figure.

Tha's the best way to check it out. I've heard anywhere from 6% to 10%. Most of my older Honda's were off 10%.

I read somewhere there was a Class Action Suit against Honda Automobile division for Odometers being off. We haven't gotten a Factory Service Repair letter yet for my wife's CRV. Just wondering what will happen with that and how it will affect our bikes.
