I have been looking into hard bags too. The bags on that site are sold elsewhere a bit cheaper, however, the reviews with respect to quality and finish are not all that good. I have read that some guys have reinforced them and done some retro work to bring them up to acceptable specs but all things considered, it may be good money after bad.

I have to admit that I am always looking for a deal and all too many times, the bargain purchase turned out to be crap and I had to replace it anyway. Now I am of the mind to save for the good stuff the first time. It is cheaper in the long run. Just my two cents.:D

This looks to be the same thinbg on e-Bay:

At that price I took a chance and have ordered one. Other trunks are 2x or 3x the price. Maybe I'll get what I pay for but will report back once I have it. I know from past experience with a Goldwing that trunks can/will crack especially when used as a backrest so proper installation is important.

Looks like the Mutazu trunk I purchased with the wrap around backrest and rack. It was shipped free.
It is ok for a cheap trunk. How ever, I have reinforced the lid where the rack is mounted and the corners. I mounted it on a 10"x16"x 1/8" aluminum plate between the luggage rack and the trunk for more support of the bottom.
It is handy to have a lockable trunk. So far........So good ! :patriot:
Here's a better picture of the trunk on the bike.

I have the trunk and rack. Don't have the wrap around back, just the regular one. This is the second season for the trunk.. The only think I suggest is that you pad the inside of the trunk with something. I used rubber toolbox liner. The vibrations will rub whatever you have against the nuts and bolts on the inside. line it and the problem is solved. Mine has proven to be 100% waterproof. Usually on extended trips my laptop rides in it...with a few other essentials..I put my bike cover on the rack for traveling. It's a "cheap" trunk...but so far it is working for me. Oh....mine is mounted on my luggage rack with u-bolts with rubber. Good luck...another site is http://a1hardbags.com/motorcycle-trunks/dmy-motorcycle-trunks/cat_5.html

I bought a[FONT=&quot] TP Extra Large Motorcycle Tour Pak with Wrap Around Backrest, Large Top Rack and Slimline LED Spoiler for $239. This trunk is very shiny but seems a bit flimsy. It will take some doing to mount to the luggage rack. The supplied mounting bracket doesn't work with my luggage rack, but I think I will be able to figure something out to get the trunk mounted. Ridebikegear is the first online vendor I have purchased from that has an "All Sales Are Final" policy. Trunk over all seems to be a value for the money. I'll try to report back this time next year.

As others have indicated, you can find the same from various other sellers for cheaper. Do a search on Mutazu in the forum and you should find a few postings I have done about making these more durable. I don't know if Mutazu is the manufacturer or just one of the original sellers of these, but they have a web site will lots of other models. I have ordered from Mutazu direct and also from eBay. I have had several different trunks and hardbags on both a Shadow 750 and my current VTX 1300.

I personally think they are worth the money if you are willing to put a little more effort and money into reinforcing them with fiberglass and epoxy. Others have had no problems using them as they come, with minor adjustments like some type of rubber gasket with the mounting, but I have found I need a bit more as I load my trunk and bags with lots of gear inside and on top for long trips.

Hope you find what works for you.

Cheers,
Randy

saddle bags are flimsey. they will pop open on ya when ya be driving down the road. even with them lock, the cover will shift and pop open on you. Gonna get rid of mine after this season

The trunk works out good if ya have a plate under it. I cut a plate and mounted it to my luggage rack and then the trunk to the plate. I had to repair the cracks that had happened to it cause I didn't have a plate under it. Since then, the trunk is sturdier than ever and I don't worry about it breaking and having the wife fall off.

Some feedback for you on this trunk. So far I am VERY pleased. I did mount the trunk on a 1/4 inch aluminium plate. I also replaced the lid gasket with press on car door molding for a better seal and used a piece of self stick velcro (fuzzy side) to quiet a slight rattle.

I've had the trunk for several months now and have had no problems and am well pleased especially for what I paid. The only thing I would like to see better is the lid lock as it is a bit flimsy - but it works.

I have the same trunk. I bought it for my V-Star 650 and loved it. I haven't bought the luggage rack for the VTX yet, but soon it will go on. EBay had it for $99 shipped. The first 2 they sent got damaged in transit, but the seller replaced immediately. The lock froze up, but the latch still works, so I plan on using it once I get the luggage rack. Cheap and can break, but a little reinforcement and padding will make it last.

Sherriff or Ckroll do either of you have a passenger? What do they think? Is is as comfortable as the sissy bar? Thanks!
I've had feedback from a few backseaters. All have liked it and two have felt more secure with the wrap around armrests. They really don't do much but did make then feel better.

I also have this trunk. The only complaint I have is with the weather stripping or gasket. It's very cheap and does not stay in place. But what do you expect from a relatively cheap trunk. I can't complain too much then. I'm just hoping I can find something to replace the weather stripping. Oh and the latch will come open if it's not locked and you are on a very rough road. Which I have to go down all the time just to get out of my place. The joys of living in the country. Have to take the good with the bad!

I replaced the weather strip with press on door molding which I tacked in place with a few drops of glue. Worked perfect. I also used the felt side of some stick on Velcro folded over the edge to quiet a lid rattle.

My latch does the same thing. I just keep it locked. Tried finding a better latch with no luck.

See the attached image of the push on door molding and velcro.
