Recently purchased the "strong" bags" and I am happy with them, look good and have plenty of room. Not much room for my passenger.............

Question how much do you think I would weaken the structure of the bag if I were to move the bag 3 to 4 inches toward the rear lights?
This would mean I would have to drill 4 additional holes.

I am planning on removing the rear lights and going with a smaller signal.

Anyone that may have done this or has experience working with fiber-glass your opinion would be appreciated.

Fill up the holes with JB weld and some chopped up fiberglass filler?
Or maybe just a plastic plug?
I filled up some holes on set of Harley RKC bags with plastics plugs (Ace Hardware)
and melted them shut with a heated flat brass bar bent to suit. Melt a little at a time
and be careful not to bugger the inside carpet too much
No issues to date.

Is the carpet inside glued in place???...I was thinking about backing up the holes with some sheetmetal epoxied in place from the inside...Then get some of that body filler they use for Corvettes...Found some while researching filler to fix the dent in my gas tank...Made with fiberglass strands, just for corvette bodies...Sand it smooth and paint.....Your bike is black, so it should be easy to match the color close enough for the backside of your saddlebags...

I filled my holes from the first mounting with the rubber bumper repair kit, several 1000 miles now and no problems, you have to cut about 1 inch square of carpet away from each hole and use the fiberglas netting to get the best hold.

Filling in the holes is not a problem besides they are in a location that cannot be seen so I doubt I would even repaint.

I just didn't want to drill additional holes and be riding down the road and have the bag/s fall off because they were damaged due to the additional holes.

Nah, the additional holes shouldn't be an issue...Make sure to seal up the other ones though...Don't want water getting in there if you get caught in a rainstorm....

Nah they're pretty skinny but I doubt they would fit through the holes.

I did use LARGE Fender Washers, Inside and out to distribute the load.
Backing plates couldn't hurt.... ....just something to avoid small pressure points.

That's not a bad idea as it would distribute the load more evenly.
