Hi guys I've been looking at turning my VTX into an absolute monster, I've been doing a bit of research into different turbos that can be used on this bike, at the moment alot of forums seem to be pointing towards "velocity racing" which unfortunately is in another country to me I'm in Australia and finding turbo builds has been hard here on this particular model or my research is just failing 😂 the price of these kits can be around 10k but they fit everything gains of about 50-65hp running on a safe 8psi but they are capable of 20+, just looking other other turbos people have tried on these bikes or if your Australian any recommendations on places that will do it

Just asking. Our VTX is factory set at a rev limit of around 5500 rpm, so how much can you gain with a turbo? Turbos are usually for high-winding engines, not for those like VTX that are low rpm torque monsters. If it's pure speed yo're after, IMHO you have the wrong bike. You need an inline hi-rev or something like the NHRA drag bikes. Not to mention that the '02 first year VTX had piston issues, w/o adding a turbo.

I have heard that with an aftermarket fuel controller/tuner you can adjust the rev limit in the ECU slightly higher. I know this can be done for my bike (Victory) but not sure about a VTX1800. On my Victory, I could only up the rev limit 500 rpm (something like 6000 to 6500) so even if this was possible on a VTX1800, it is not gaining you a lot.

As noted,...for a 1/4 mile drag strip kind of race there are lotza faster motos. Adding a turbo is only asking for trouble you dont need while under way at WOT.
However,...for fun filled bike nite kinda races that are shorter due to space allowed,...you Already hava a winner. I race and beat Busas, hardleys, and everything else from a standing start everytime.
All you need do is short shift and before youre through 2nd gear the race will have been won. Its a sucker bet worth an easy couple hundred bucks w/o risk or much foul of the law.

I am pleased to see... others are understanding turbochargers on a slow revving engines ..

superchargers are better for slow revers

remember the crankshaft is heavy.. an 20 pound counterbalancer....
rpm limiter
fuel injection system not able to deliver over 110-115 horsepower.

your country is the biggest limiter
out of production 11 years ago

items no longer in production
superchargers for our bikes
convert gear drive to belt drive.. ( stock gear drive eats 10 hp )
