Hi Everyone,

I'm cross-posting this from another thread that I had going on the 1800 board, albeit that one was on another subject :).

Was wanting to see if anyone had thoughts on the V&H Cruzer exhaust system? I've been thinking about possibly adding the system to my 1300 this winter and wanted to see if anyone has noticed any noticeable performance gains over stock with it? How was sound? Any bluing issues from the heat after installing the pipes?

If I decided to get the system, I plan on taking the time to set up the bike right with a different air intake and rejeting the carburetor. Tips & Tricks?

Thanks!

Can't speak to the 1300, but had them on my last bike, a yammy VStar 650. Absolutely my favorite mod, boosted the power and good, deep rumble. A buddy has a set on his 750 shadow, and I believe I like the sound better than the Cobra slashcuts on my 1300. When I get a few extra bucks, I'll probably switch to the V&H. I don't think you have to re-jet, at least not right away, so you could do it in stages

Just put them on my VTX 1300C about a month ago, and I love them. They sound great, deep but not too loud. You don't need to do any mods to your carburetor unless you replace the air intake. I was told not to mess with that.

I can't speak for the V&H cruzers, but I highly recommend going to aftermarket exhaust. I recently bought some hard kromes American classics on a good dealio (I wouldn't have gotten these based on some issues others' have had) but they were too good to pass up for the price I got.

I have NOT rejetted yet. It only took me 1 hour to remove the stocks and install them. They weigh half as much as the stocks! My gas mileage has gone up and I'm averaging 45 miles per gallon! (I got 48 mpg on 1 tankful!) Much better throttle response! The sound is terrific (I didn't buy exhausts for the sound) I've gained a lot of space due to the stock exhaust taking up a lot of space. Especially now a passenger has much more room for their feet. If I'd known that aftermarket exhaust made that much of a difference; I would have gotten them right away!

When and if you do get the V&H cruzers please post a review. I had my eyes on them as well and couldn't find too much info. from people who have them on our bikes. In particular performance wise. Plenty of reviews on the sound.

Not going to see any real performance gains with a pipe swap, despite manufacturer claims...Get pipes based on sound and looks, not any "You'll gain XX horsepower gains from our pipes" advertising BS..
