Harley, nothing. Park it next to just about any bike - except my 1800 - and you will see how big it is. I wouldn't worry too much about it. It is a big bike, and after all (at least according to my ex-wives) size doesn't matter...

If you choose to remove your emblems and reflectors you will be surprised at how many people will ask you what you are driving and how cool it is. When people mistake my VTX for anything else I am more than happy to tell them what I'm driving. The VTX is not small by any means! :nope:

My bike felt huge at first coming frm a Yamaha 750....now it feels kind of small. Enough with the Harley comparisons. What about BMW, Yamaha, Suzuki, ect.

If you want a Harley I suggest getting one.

Compared to my friends Suzuki Intruder 1400 and a friends Sportster my X is huge, low and long.

The only bike I've sat on that makes if feel small is a Valk Interstate, Goldwing and a Boss Hoss at Daytona. The Hoss was a friggin monster.

The chopper from my pics felt small to me....it was longer but narrower and about the same weight...by felt smaller to me...guess since it was'nt as fat. :D

I have a good friend who live in Florence,SC who rides a dyna (for those who don't know it 's one of harleys 750 different models) alway giving me crap about honda (in a good natured way).
We decided to meet in Charlotte,NC last saturday for lunch, I was telling him about the seat mod that Badx had done for me during the winter.
Out in the lot I told to sit on the vtx and check out the comfort, he did and tried to stand it up , he raised it about an inch off the stand , let it back down and told me " damn this thing is heavy"
I sat on his wide glide and thought to myself " damn this thing feels like a dirt bike"

On the freeway couple days ago I came up on a biker dude bout 225lbs, got the ZZ Top beard, chains & bandana going-on and all and I'm think'n WTF is he riding? puniest little dwarf 650?..passed him bye on his V-Rod...he looked like a fool on that joke.

That aside, was wondering other than bags (have all of them) what can be done to increase the perceived profile of the 1300R?

I agree with Big-X and the others. A 750 or 1100 seems small. A sportster seems like a mini bike and even the full size H-Ds are smaller. I sit on my 1300 and it is lower and longer. I feel like I sit down in the X and not on top of it like with a sportster or most other H-Ds or other bikes for that matter.

my bro is a little guy and has a sporster. even befor my shield baggs and sissy bar it still shrunk his 883.. Pissed him off bad since I treaded in my 250 reble for the x... but to answer the question, yes bags shield and sissy bar...plus a nice blond on the back helps the profile of the rear end...

I have sat on pleanty of the Harleys, and got to say that the main thing that made it appear smaller wass the tank size and shape. After getting back on mine, I noticed how large it was. Gave me a great feeling...

Larger rim and tire on the rear will alter your profile as well. Rake the front end out, etc, etc,

For me bags don't do it...but again my opinion, like the sleek look of the bike the way it is. I did a few minor cosmetic adjustments on the bike, the most revealing was recovering the seat with ostrich-went the vinyl route when being talked out of the leather...big impression, and many positive comments from folks at bike week...great addition to the black retro...

:hmm2: You have a Honda. You know it is better that that other bike. Here to prove it, look at this link. If it was size only, the 1300R VTX is bigger. Look at the comparing prices. You need a bigger wallet to buy the other bike.:(

 You also have the security that your bike may not spend as much time in the repair shop! You bike is lighter, more nimble and nicer looking. I said it before, :nono: that other bike is for men with ED and women that cannot gain satisfaction from an unbalanced washing machine load. :bleh: STAY with the Honda. Remember the old advertising claim.... :D "You meet the nicest people, on a Honda":D

Lord.....i hope that's not the voice of experience speaking there.

But everyone here is dead on: I ride with some harley guys, and those who have sat on it usually comment on what a big bike it is. I've let two of them ride it, and they say it handles like a MUCH smaller machine. Honda magic at its best!

Boop:

The Stratoliner is one sweet bike. if i ever get rid of my VTX, thats what it would be for.
