Hello - im new to the cruiser scene, new to the site but have been riding for about 10 years on CBRs. Last year after my daughter was born i thought i was done riding. Guess i was so caught up in the baby days that i sold both 600rr and 1000rr. Last weekend i rode my buddies shadow on saturday and sunday i rode a vulcan 1600. MAN! WHAT WAS I THINKING selling my toys. Wife isnt too happy about me getting another croch rocket so i am going to the cruiser scene. I will be purchasing a 1300 VTX and would like to install a 240 kit on it. Couple questions i have for the conversion is:
-Will she be able to ride on the back? seen a lot of kits and no rear seat.
-I am going to be installing the kit myself so looking for a straight bolt on kit (no cutting)
-If you have done this conversion can you please share your thoughts?
-And also i am looking for reputable shop for the VTX.
Thanks in advance:choppersm

Get a pillion pad for two up riding, ridevmc.com has the best price 240 conversion kit around with many option. Everything is bolt on, but you will have to paint rear fender, or have them paint it for you for color matching. Multiple fender options and rims.

Do yourself a favor and find one with a 240 already installed. You will save yourself a ton of money in the long run. When I sold my vtx(pictured in sig) I had over $24k in it and only got $10k out of it and all the 240 stuff including the raked trees were less than a year old. I didnt build the bike to make money off it but all I am saying it would be cheaper in the long run to buy one with a 240 already on it then personalize it to you. Good luck man.

What BadX said. I hav thought about the 240 also but after talking to guys that did the mod most said they would just go to a 200 tire and not waste the money on the 240. You will have $3K or more in it by the tme your done and that is just for the 240 mod. Matching wheels and chrome will set back even more. I don't want to stop you from doing it but do a lot of research before you do.

Is there anything special I need to know before doing this or is it all pretty self explanitory? I'm just concerned with other parts, i.e. drive shaft. Is it easy to figure out, come with instructions or what? I would love the satisfaction of doing this myself, just don't want to mess it up. Thanks for all the help

thanks for all the replies and ideas. I have thought about the 200 rear and calling it a day, but i have this problem that when i get a new bike car or whatever i need to work on it to make it stand out. lol. but on the other hand it is a lot of money just for that. guess i really need to think about how long i am going to keep this thing around.

Thanks again for all your replies.
