I found a great set of saddlebags yesterday for my 2005 1800R, took them home, then found out they wouldn't work because the stock (dual) pipes are too high. There wasn't any way to hold the right bag off the top pipe.

Can anyone suggest some bags that are large enough to be usefull and that will work with the stock pipes?

I know the hard bags such as Leatherlyke will work since they are specifically made for a certain model of bike. That comes with a cost though... But there are a lot of nice looking universal bags that would be fine if they would stay above the exhaust.

I ended up getting some River Road "Large Studded Windswept Zip-Off Slant" bags at the local Honda shop (number 10-7722). I had to punch some additional holes in the Flaps the go under the seat so I could raise them up high enough to clear the pipe. $154 and they look nice on the bike.

Great minds think alike! Your ride is the same as mine. I went with the Leatherlyke model 339 (photos ... if it will cooperate). They can be removed quickly and easily. Dimensions at the largest points: 20" long X 8" wide X 12" high.

What did the Leatherlyke cost and where did you get them? I had those on my Shadow and really liked them. The Leatherlyke site has them for $459.95.

Bought them from the local dealer. Owner's an old friend from whom I've purchased four bikes over the years so he always gives me a healthy discount. I think they were marked $419 and I paid $345.

I put the 24 liter HL bags on mine. They are a lot more expensive, but they fit perfectly using the HL mounting brackets.
