I drilled my pips\es out about 2000 miles ago, total of 4900 miles, and it feels like maybe i have lost some power. When i accelerate there seems to be a "knocking" coming from the motor that is not there when idleing or just cruising at a constant speed. I even leaned down to listen to the motor on the interstate and it is purring like a kitten at 80. Could my bike be running lean/rich? If so how do i tell and adjust the carb? If i am just being paranoid and the engineis supposed to be making noise then just shoot me.

Thanks for your help,
Mark

Hard to tell. If I were you I'd try to find some bikers in your area with some mechanical abilities and see if they would take a look and listen before taking it to a dealer if that is what you are thinking.

Where's Van Buren? I'm in Indiana as well, and if it would be possible for us to get together I'd be glad to give it a listen for you and see if I could offer any help.

If you're running lean, you're going to have the fan coming on a LOT, because the bike is going to be running hotter than it should be. if you're rich, you can determine that by holding your hand down by the exhaust and smelling. if it smells strongly of fuel, then it's probably rich.

in all liklihood, it's nothing to worry about, but i know how it is - reassurance never hurts. Plus, these bikes DO make a lot of odd noises...=)
