wipe it off, let the rest dry, especially if you got it on your clothing.....do not just start the bike, could be very ugly!! wait a few minutes.....that's why you should never fill while sitting on the bike...:cheers:

 

use the window squeegii on the tank after closeing the gass cap.... water it down and off the paint.. i keep a blue micro fiber towle with me , dry the water off the tank by then the gas will disipate ...

Cronic, have you ever looked at the crap in that squeegy water? No way would I wipe down with that. I just use the papertowels they have for cleaning windows to wipe down with. If I must, even on my car, I use the restroom and get water and paper towels.

 

Yep, just do what you can to get it watered down. You can clean it better once you get home.

I have had it happen where a few drips splash out. But, it has never 'overflowed'.

Make sure you re-wax the tank.

 

I had some major splashes once and made the mistake of using the station's paper towels and put some hairline scratches on the tank. I'm just happy they buffed out with polishing compound. Now I keep micro fiber with me. But most importantly, I PAY ATTENTION.

 

i hate the paper towls they scratch like hell!.. My 250 rebel is proof of that, sweral marks all over...i use the water as a dilutent so the gas is wattered down. no back and forth with the squeegy just dump the water than i use my micro fiber towel to dry the mess up..!!! I learned about the micr towel's on this forum and never use "anything" elts...iv had the x for a month now and never have washed it (soap & water) just got the micro wet and buffed even bird droppings off then used a dry one to buff to a shine... no sweral marks i think green ghost let me know about them "wal-mart, 8 pack , 5.00.."worth every penny!!!!!
