Ok, I'm trying to decide on what light bar to get. I want it to be seen more than anything but of ores want a good look to. I'm looking for suggestions on types and brands. I've seen em at bike bandit for around $250 and on eBay for as little as $40. Any help or discussion will be appreciated. Thanks for letting me pick your brain.

I had a Kury with mini lights on when I bought the bike. Changed it out to a Hondaline. I like the old school look. Lots and lots of choices put there. Good luck with the search.

I have a Hondaline lightbar and the good thing about it is it is plug and play. It has an inline fuse and relay included, too. The lights are bright--easily visible during the day and are like having on your highbeam at night. The installation incorporates your factory turn signals, plugs directly into your factory wire harness, and includes a switch that mounts near the left grip. I added the chrome visors (sold seperately) to match better with the headlight and Kuryakyn deep dish turn signal bezels to match with the rear ones. It will work with fairings and windshields--even a Memphis Shades--using a Glen's headlight extension.

The two issues I've had are the driving lights are pointed too high--even when aimmed down as low as possible. This can be corrected with some modification. Also, the switch went out pretty quickly. I replaced it with one from www.trailtech.com.

For looks, I like the Kuryakyn Constellation lightbar a lot, but I've heard of issues with it.

I just noticed that this is your first post. Welcome to the forum from Tennessee.

Question. Why does the light bar need a headlight extension?
The back of the driving light housings on the lightbar will bump against a Memphis Shades windscreen. This would force the housings to be angled way down so they point at the ground. By extending the lightbar out in front by a couple of inches, you can eliminate this interference. You can extend the lightbar in one of two ways. You can extend just the lightbar using a special made plate for this purpose or you can extend both the lightbar and the headlight housing using a special made plate like Glen's headlight extension. Cobra sells a plate for about $40 that extends the lightbar about 1.5 inches. Sometimes this is enough, sometimes it isn't depending on your specific setup. My local Honda dealer had a special made chromed plate they designed and made for about $50 that extended the lightbar about 2.5 inches. This works in almost every case and is what I used on my wife's bike. It is really close as to whether the Cobra extension kit/plate would have worked in my case. I don't know what Glen's costs nor how much it extends things but I can tell you it will be well made and chromed since everything Glen sells is top notch.

G'day,

Vinish

Glenn's extensions are available in 2", 3" & 4". Cost is about $40.00 shipped.

Nope...Had the mounts that use an allen wrench to tighten everything in place...Never been a "quick release" guy...My luck, anything "quick release" gets "quickly stolen"...
The reason I asked is because the difference in the mounts is probably why your windshield fit behind the lightbar and mine did not. Mine only needed about a half inch more clearance to fit, but Glen's 2" extension was the shortest available. I would not have chosen the triggerlick system for the same reasons, but the bike came that way. Anyway, to the OP: If your fairing/windshield/whatever interferes with adding a lightbar, it is curable.

After researching here and learning about relays and starter switch problems and such a few years ago, I just went with the Hondaline light bar myself. A bit pricey but many problems are eliminated. Yes, they do point high, but no one flashes me about them. My only concern was how short the blinker wires were when trying to connect them in the housing. Ps. I use both the MS batwing and a sports shield without an extension of any sort.

A lot of the answer is going to depend on the look you're after. There are the bigger lights (kind of old school) and there are smaller, more streamlined models. I like my Baron.

Here's a picture of my Highway light bar. Brand is a Hondaline which I love the old school look that many others have also mentioned. Easy to install. I also have a Memphis fats Shield and I installed Glen's 2" headlight extension. I wanted to be able to install Lexan lowers so I needed enough room to place my lowers behind my turning lights. I just think the lightbar matches the headlight perfectly.
