So my buddy Dave (hoss37) stops by yesterday while Jenny and I are babysiting our garage sale....He rode his newest aquisition (nivensid's old 1300) over so I could get an up close look at it and discuss the few changes he wants to make to it...We're sitting in the garage shooting the bull, and I needed to make a run into town..So we hop on the bikes and ride to town...First stop was the Dollar General store in Laporte...We park the bikes in the lot just past an entrance/exit to the lot, facing the side street and go in...We get what we needed and hed to the checkout...in front of us is a guy with his kid which looked to be about 13-14 years old....Now I'm wearing a Honda Homecoming t-shirt, which has a "Honda" logo on the front left chest area, and Dave has a black t-shirt and his riding vest on, both of us with do-rags and our shades on top our heads...This kid in front of us sees dave and starts talking about his vest...The "Vet" patch and Dave has the chain vest extenders on his vest...This kid reminded me of the "Jeff Spicoli" character in the movie "Fast Times At Ridgemont High", going on about Dave's vest and the chains...I heard him say, "Now there's a badass big Harley guy right there"...LMAO!!!...As they're getting their stuff rung up, I turn to look at Dave (who is hoping I didn't hear what the kid said), and say quietly to him, "You big badass Harley guy, you" ;)..LOL...So we get our stuff rung up and head out the door, not saying much yet...Well like I said we had parked down past the entrance to the strip mall, and as we walk out the door, this guy and his kid are getting in a pickup on the side of the entrance closest to the store!!...This kid says to us, "Later badass Harley guys!!"...Then his dad sees the bikes and say to the kid, "Hey there's their bikes...Nice Harley's guys!!"...By now were past them and almost to the bikes, and I turn around and say "Thanks!!!..And by the way, both of those bikes are Honda's" :icon_eek:...Shoulda seen the looks on their faces!!!..Priceless!!!...Just goes to show that anything with two wheels and an engine is a Harley to most of the general public out there...

I rode to work last week. Someone asked me how long I have been riding Harleys. I said, "Well, I have had MOTORCYCLES for about 7 years." lol.

The first time I saw an X was at Cox's Harley Davidson in North Carolina. It was a customer appreciation day, free food , you know. Anyway, there was an X lined up with the Harleys, and the only reason I knew it was a Honda was the name plate. I did know it wasn't a Harley, but I had never seen one before. It was in 02 or 03.

Yeah, but the funniest part was in the store, before either of them even seen the bikes sitting in the lot...Assumed we ride Harley's from the get-go...

Now don't get me wrong, my bike isn't always confused with a Harley...A few days ago I was at the gas station filling up, was kinda cool so had my leather jacket on...I go in for the lottery ticket and a guy was in there, with his Ultra Classic sitting right in front of the building....I walked out right behind him and he was complimenting my ride, and actually pulled up beside it as I was getting ready to leave and checking it out...Asked what brand it was and I told him...He says, "Man, Japan sure is putting out some nice bikes these days!!"...I have to agree!!!....:mosh: :D

I hear ya.. Non-Motorcycle people always just think Harley when they see a cruiser. Common mistake, but the looks on their faces are priceless when you tell them its a Honda.. lol

I work with a die hard Harley guy, not a wanna be. Anyway he and I argue from time to time and the other day he called my 1800f a Honda Davidson so I stated that Ford built the first production V8 so everyone with a V8 has a Ford knock off. Then I told him the history of the bating and how Harleys almost had Vetters instead. He shut up. We got into it the other day when he said his bike gets hot setting in line at the guard gate in the mornings going into work and I stated thats why I ride water cooled, the fight was on.....:stirpot:

Hey just a thought how about a commercial to promote your local business.

Just picture it "Bill" holding Odie, and "Hoss37" dressed as they were in the Dollor Store, but in the shop at Bill's house working on a bike, and the theme is; "If you want to save $$$ on Bike maintenance, and not pay Dealer prices have your ride serviced at ODIE'S etc.....

You know just like in this commercial:

:) Who knows you could be laughing all the way to the bank.

took a short ride yesterday, was at a stop sign up pulls(beside me) this sweet Harley chopper with a dude and his passenger (hot) he looks over at me. I give him a compliment on his bike, he and his passenger state mine was a good looking ride too. wished me a great ride. kinda nice to have the recognition that bikes other than Harley look good. but I have not been called bad ass.(maybe it was the pink tights I was wearing?):hmm2:
