hi everyone, i ride my bike very often, bike has around 3800 miles, i ride to work about 10 miles away, take about 25 minutes in traffic, some days are really warm but i never seen my fan kicks on, wonder it might be broken or blown fuse, or is there anyway we could test it to see if it function properly or not, thanks

One thing you can do to check the fan is to check the fan motor switch. It located on the bottom of the radiator. Pull the connector off the switch, make a jumper wire to connect to the connector and a ground (some where on the frame). Once grounded, turn the ignition switch on. If the fan comes on, the motor is good and the switch is a fault. If the radiator gets too hot, that switch closes a ground circuit to the fan. Also, make sure the 10A fan fuse is ok (behind the right side cover). My fan has not come on that much. These bikes stay pretty cool as a rule. Of course, sitting in traffic with it being 100* outside will get the fan going. I recommend you download the 1300 service manual, #8 stickey down on the 1300 forum. Page 19-15 tells you how to check the switch. Chapter 6 covers the entire cooling system. Hope this helps you.

Went for a ride yesterday, and after 30 minutes came to a stop (fan was not spinning) Temp light was not on. I was getting a little worried. Rode another 20 minutes came to a stop and this time it was spinning. So I too surmised that the engine was not hot enough for the fan to come on.

Honda makes a good cooling system. Take a 30 minute ride. Park you bike in the driveway and let it idle. Grab a seat, a cold beer wait & watch. If the fan does not come on within 10 to 15 minutes there could be a problem but since your temp light is not coming on I suspect not. Good luck. Ride safe.

On the left side of the fan, top mount bolt. There's a Green ground wire behind the bolt. Remove the bolt and scrape the paint off the frame where it mounts. Lot's have had a problem with the ground due to the paint on the frame. Mine did not work till I did this.

it's probally not going to turn on when the bike is moving. on a warm day if you let it idle after a good rige it will most likely go on. there has been probems in the past like Eazy-E said above about the green ground wire on the fan with rust or to much powdercoat. After scraping the serface coat it with a light coat of high temp bearing grease.
