Yes I change all fluids in a bike when I buy it, I log it into the manual and that way I know they are ALL fresh fluids, both brake fluids, engine oil, rad coolant, fork oil and final drive oil

So apparently my torque wrench is off a little bit I broke the filler cap off headed to Honda to get one right now what is the best way to remove the threads that are stuck in there now

 

JB weld the broken part back on? Use it to turn out the bad piece. Really need a pic to say for sure. Pick up a new torque wrench while you're out.

 

Got back with the new one and was able to turn the old threads out by sticking my fingers in and twisting. Thanks for the help! To the trash with the torque wrench!!

 

I don't have my manual with me... What's the specified torque? Is it in inch-pounds?

Service manual spec is only 9 lb-ft for the thin-walled oil filler cap... and 15 lb-ft for the drain plug...

 

The vast majority of common torque wrenches aren't precise enough on the low end to deal with settings that low. I'd simply snug both of those a bit with a ratchet and call it good. But, that's just me.

 

Back in the day, using a stubby 3/8 drive ratchet, with a 10 mm deep socket, my wrist would pop at exactly 9ftlb. Valve cover nut torque on an 88 civic. Too many skating and BMX crashes.
