Stand stand is sturdier than leaving it on a jack. Also allows you to get under the bike where the jack blocks you, if you need to get under there. Stand also allows you to get closer and easier to work on both sides without running into the jack. To each it's own!

Duh.... good points. I personally don't think I could trust a jack to stay put while I was under anything it was holding up anyway. $135 for a stand though..... sheesh!

PepsX Stands are great. I was lucky enough to have some scrap angle iron around and the metal saw my dad owned. I made my own stand. Like the others that use their Harbor Freight jack to lift the bike. I then bring in the kick stand and slide my home made PepsX Stand under the bike and remove the jack. So easy to get to everything with the jack stand.

Don't know why Harbor Freight quit selling these stands. Only ones I've sen like it are around $250 and I paid about $50 for this one.
Painters tape stuck on the wheel is optional. :)

Question.... why do we need a stand if we have to jack it up anyway?
The Harbor Freight jack that was on sale (and still is I think) for $59.... Coop has that one and we used it to check the tail light wiring. LOTS easier with the bike up on the floor. Can't you just do all your work on the jack? Why the need for a stand?
In case you decide to tear it down this far.....

can you take a picture of it from the other side?

also, if you dont mind, can you measure it for me (over all size, total caster height, wheel size, tube sizes (out side ones only), and tell us how thick that material is?

i am am thinking of making one of those but cant find anyone who has one.

thanks,

It looks to me 1'' I.D plus I think it's 16 gage.
I hope this helps.
The stands that I build are make of 1" 11ga square tubing. I will tell you that unless you are buying in bulk, you will have about 80 - 90 bucks in material easy and that seems like it is going up all the time. I would personally not trust my bike on 1" 16ga, that would be a little thin for my liking. As far as a dolly, I make those too. I actually working on a new design that might make then just a little cheaper. here is the current design.

Thanks. I have a buddy who owns a steel shop and we want to try our hands on making one. It would be my first project with my welding skills.
There not good yet but when I decide I am ready..... I will go for it!

And this is why I don't make them I leave it up to the pros
NO malice intended

I know this is a very old thread, but maybe some newer members can benefit from seeing these ideas.

I know I'm feeling a bit stupid for having waited this long to finally build my own stand....
