I have always only used the fuel tank. Never the reserve. Is the fuel in reserve seperate drom that in the fuel tank? How would I make certain that I haqd fuel in both the fuel tank andb reserve tank? And since I never used the reserve in the year that I,ve owned the bike, is the gas in reserve tank potentially bad now?

It's all the same tank...The petcock has two different levels it pulls gas from...There's tube inside that when in "run" position, pulls gas from a higher level inside the tank..On "reserve" it pulls the gas from the bottom of the tank..So no worries about the gas going bad...

Even if you think it's in proper position, check anyway, some turds like to mess with bikes when the owner isn't around, I check every single time I get on, and have found the valve in reserve position when I didn't do it.

Keep in mind that once you hit reserves you have a little less than a gallon of fuel left. That equals out to be about 25 to 35 miles depending on your fuel mileage. I have had this thing running on fumes before. I do have to admit I ran it out of gas once before, forgot to change it back after a fill up. :nope:

A little trick I learned here at the Cafe: When you switch to "reserve", turn your gas cap key lock cover to the side. Serves as a reminder that it's time to gas up. Don't ask me how I know that's good advice. :banghead:

Idiots? I don't think so. Our 1300s are a little less sophisticated than you bigger boys. Only way we know we're getting low is when we start to sputter. :(

First the dealer looks at ATV,snow blowers, dirt bikes, generators, scooters, jet skis. ?He keeps all that info in his mind?
All 1300's are down for Run
Is you're bike hanging upside down from the ceiling. lol
NO! Its the same on R,S,C models. You need to go look at it again It is down (Run) forward (Off) up (Res)
If you go and look close it's printed on the ring behind it.

I hit reserve for the first time today at 182 miles. Filled up with 3.7 gallons a couple miles later, so I still had about a gallon remaining.

I wonder if he could have the knob installed upside down, making "ON" up?:hmm2:

I've never tried it, never had mine off. Not sure if you even can put it on 180 out.
