Hello Cafe,
I am a part of the 2nd Stump group buy, and it's not looking good :banghead:. I was really wanting a trunk for the X. Any other suggestions for companies to use? Can a Harley Tour Pack be modified to fit? Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Do you have a pic of it on your bike? I have leatherlyke bags on my Volusia, and I'm not sure how the trunk will flow with the bike.

Trunk Options

There are several companies on EBay: Mutuzu Motorcycle Accessories, Halfpricetrade, T- Motorsports Store, Motorcycle Hardbags and more, and A1 Saddlebags. Prices seem to be good. I have no personal experiences with any of these companies. I spoke to a few motorcyclists in my area who have purchased trunks from some of these companies and they appear to be happy with the product. Just another option to explore.

Bought a trunk off e-Bay from this guy:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/PRIM...LKYRIE-TRUNK-/190553042205?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item2c5dd8ad1d

All in all I'm happy with what I got for the price paid. I did mount the trunk on a 1/4" aluminium plate and replaced the lid gasket with push on door trim molding.

The only thing I would have liked to see better on the trunk was the lid lock. The latch portion is a bit flimsy.

Other then that I'm more then happy with what I got for what I paid.

w3jnp, the add is confusing to me what did the trunk you have on your bike cost?
The black trunk, luggage rack and deluxe backpad was $204.00 delivered. This was about 1/2 to 1/3rd the cost of other trunks I priced.

I can put up some more pictures if you want them.

Another trunk question- Is there an inexpensive trunk that is available that would fit with the stock Honda Deluxe backrest sissy bar. It would probably have to open from the side rather than the rear because of the sissbar/backrest.
I can make my own mount.

I had to remove my sissy bar to get my trunk to mount properly. The one thing that I hated about my trunk was that it stunk to high heaven!!! Took lots of scubbing, painting of the interior and airing out to get the petroleum smell of the plastic out. But once it was out, it has been working great! My camera rides there on rides, and I have been in some downpours...nothing inside got wet. You can see some of it in my sig pic.

An inexpensive option is the Mutazu DMY trunk (http://www.mutazu.com/).

Many have used this trunk as it comes, but I found it to be a bit flimsy for my long trip purposes, so I beefed it up with a couple layers of fiberglass on the inside. Cost an extra $50 or so, but still ended up being much cheaper than the expensive fiberglass trunks out there. See the link below for a thread on that project.

Here's a couple pics of how it looks on my bike.

My addition of the trunk to VTX T

Well let's see if my pic post properly showing the trunk I installed on my T.

The trunk I got off Ebay for $100 (Mutuzu), rack for $45 and I added the under trunk brake light for additional lighting at night.

Someone else mentioned the lock is a little flimsy but it serves it purposes for travel.

I did strengthen on the inside on bottom and underside of trunk with an aluminum plate to prevent vibration.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00513G82U
$117.44 + $17.49 Shipping. $134.93 Total.

Comes with the wrap around backrest and top chrome rack.

Pro's:
Price
Holds a Crap-Ton of stuff
Price

Con's:
You have to drill your own holes for the top rack
Plastic is flimsy. Reinforce with Fiberglass, cures problem (Around $15)
Plastic Smell takes awhile to go away

Overall, Im not disappointed as far as the "you get what you pay for" kinda thing. I have no problem recommending one, once the Con's above are duly noted.

Same for me except mine did not have an odor. I do wish the lid lock were a bit more robust. Still, very happy with what I got for what I paid.

I did use press on door molding to replace the lid gasket as it gave a much better seal and I used the felt side of glue on velcro along the lip to quiet a slight lid rattle.

Would buy it again. Got mine from a guy off e-Bay.

I fond one - showmevtx found me one that open from the side for me on ebay and I got the bid so it is on the way. So now I have a fall project - sanding, painting and making up a locking quick release mount.

Thanks showmevtx for finding it for me.

Doug
You makes your's? I'd like a side release trunk, but need a manufacturer name to put in the search field.
