rim strips for spoke wheels

Hey all,

I just got my spline flange back from the machinist, so I am ready to slap my new tires on the 1800 and put it back together. I pulled my new rim strip out for the back rim of the package and immediately knew something wasn't right. It isn't wide enough. I am itching to get the bike back together. Would it be okay to reuse the rim strip that was in the wheel? If not I guess I can wait till Monday to go by the local dealer and see if they have a rim strip in stock that will work. It has been long enough (last winter) since I ordered the tires/tubes/rim strips that I don't think the place I ordered them from will take them back.

you should have sealed the rims with the 3m 5200 then you could toss the rim strip and the tubes.

You can use the old one just make sure to clean any rust deposits that may be on it.

Make sure there's no rips or holes in it either. He's right about sealing them but I hear the beads are different on tubeless tires. This makes them harder to seat but not impossible.
