As mentioned, the Cobra Fatty is a great choice for the 1300. Make sure it fits your year and model. Fatty is inch-and-a-half, where some others are only 1-1/4. Wish the fatty was made for my 1800 C, but I settled for and have really liked my 2 pc. National Cycle Paladin's. Some things you can't go cheap, and engine guard (crash bar) is one of them.

Ok thx but as I said I was looking for something reasonable that won't cost an arm and a leg because on my budget I can't afford anything right now at the moment but hopefully I will once everything is caught up but thanks for the info

"Reasonable" is in the eye of the spender. What is your upper limit price you are willing to spend?

I haven't purchased then in a long while, but I have the Cobra Engine Guards (If they still make them for my 03 1800 Retro and I swear bu them. I did go down at one point and those guards allowed me to push the bike away from me and my feet so nothing got broken. Style is one thing but protection is what I want with them. For what it is worth I highly recommend the Cobra's. If your looking at other brands, I would suggest then you get guards that are a single piece from the left to the right side as they are stronger. I remember years back where people using the guards that were one piece on each side complained how when then went down the highway bar on the side closest to the ground just broke off.. I actually have a second Cobra highway bar but am not selling :)

As was said above, when your looking at price please try to determine what you are worth.... Ride Safe

If I remember correctly the Paladins are two separate pieces one for the left side and one for the right side of the bike. I do remember seeing someone years back go down on their bike with these on and the side hitting the road just collapsed as it could not handle the the pressure hitting the ground and the force moving forward. So please check them out and be careful....

We're in agreement there as well. Always a full face helmet! I wear jackets and pants with armor too and good motorcycle boots. I ride for my enjoyment, not to make some kind of fashion statement.

That being said on my CB I have sliders instead of a crash bar. Still some protection but I just don't see it as a bike to have crash bars on.

Beautiful bike!! Now I'm

Beautiful bike - Now I'm jealous... :)

My VTX1800R is an 03 and I see no need to trade it in. Yes a full face (I used a Shoei but now use a Schuberth, leather jacket, good boots, gloves, etc. When I went down and experienced road rash, I had a jacket on but it was the summer so I did not have the sleeves locked closed by my wrists. When I went down the jacket arm slide up and ........

I love the long rides on the open roads when I can.... and the longer the better. I did the Colorado Ride In a few times (not sure if they still do that) but it was a blast. I left Austin, Texas by myself and picked up some other riders going to the ride in in Dallas, then more riders in Ft. Worth and some riders from Houston also met us. So just stated out by myself and soon we were a group of about 30. Over the July 4th weekend we rode the Rockies and some wonderful memories. For this event, we all stayed at one of two hotels and just rode....... No events, just riding and hanging at the hotel.... We had about 300 bikers show up at that event - about 5 lost there lives riding home or ended up in the hospital..... But memories forever. I use to live in the Orlando Area and did Daytona event a lot but the Colorado Ride-in was the best.... Well Daytona was fun also.....

If your ever heading toward the Phoenix, Valley, let me know....

I put a Lindby Mustache bar on my 02 VTX 1800S and I Have the same Bar On my other bike as well. I wouldn't ride the bike before installing the bar on my bike because it can save you a LOT of Money if some knuckle head runs you off the road. It's worth it to me to protect my investment.
