It has been many years in the NW that this took place, I have two friends that are Cops and both of them have told me the same thing on two different occasions that the BMW is a more comfortable for them and a better handling bike!

you don't suppose the SC cops ride'm cause they have the bmw car plant up there do you? are they making mc's there as well? sc is mixed on their bikes for cops too...some ride harley and some ride bmw...i can understand the top end and possibly the better handling...i would suppose the cop might like it cause the bike idles cooler at lights but i don't know that that is always true either lol

Gwinnett county Police had swithched a few of their bikes to BMW from the Harley's.The guys loved them but they did not get any more because they said they cost too much to repair when they got damaged. This came from my father the Sgt who worked for them at the time.

My Street Glide vibrates much less than my 1300 and about the same as my 1800. Even sitting still. The biggest difference I see is at 60-70 mph. The 1300 had a very sharp fast vibration and the Harley does not. The 1800 got smoother the higher the RPMs went. The Kawasaki Vaquero vibrated less than anything I have ridden in a long while. The Victory vibrated like a 1300 and felt cheap and tinny to me.
Vibration is a huge issue with me and a deciding factor when I buy a bike. It's one reason I will never rule out a GoldWing and will probably own one.

the surely vibrates less than the classic or nomad, without a doubt...on the older models anyway

Not having ridden all the different bikes you have I will defer to your expertise.
I do find it amusing to watch what ever that part on the side of the Harleys is dancing around while the bike idles.
I know that doesn't mean the bike is going to vibrate like crazy.
I did watch a muffler vibrate off of a Triumph 650 bonneville from behind at about 50 mph.
Thing came at me like a missle.
I expect a V Twin to vibrate. I don't expect parts to fall off. LOL

I saw something similar to this in the news last year, where the biggest gripes were handling at highway speeds and the "death wobble" that apparently appears out of nowhere on the flh line whether the sudden wobble phenomenon can be proved or not, I don't know, that's how it was stated in the article.
