2006 VTX 1800C. I have the Kuryakyn crash bars. The chrome did NOT hold up well. The chrome is about 70% and the rest is surface rust. Thinking of a cosmetic touchup. never did this before so seeking advice.
Can I sand the entire bar, chrome/rust with multiple grits, say 180/220/320/400 and then use an etching primer and top coat with a rattle can spray paint. I'm thinking rustoleum brightworks silver (or should I go flat black).
all the rest of the chrome on the bike is in good shape.
I thought about removing the bars and sending them out to be replated, but when you include shipping both ways and the cost to replate, I at full list price new.
Any suggestions?
